Some Liverpool fans are tweeting Georginio Wijnaldum after the Netherlands international posted a rallying call on Thursday night.
Liverpool host Newcastle United at Anfield tomorrow afternoon and it’s vitally important that Jurgen Klopp’s side pick up a victory.
Now that the European Super League is in the toilet, finishing in the top four is suddenly quite important for the Reds once again.
The Anfield outfit are seventh in the Premier League table but victory over the Magpies would take Liverpool into the Champions League qualification spots – and even three points behind third-placed Leicester City.
Wijnaldum tweeted on Thursday that he and his team-mates were determined to finish ‘the season strongly’ ahead of the final six games of the Premier League campaign.
Here’s how some fans of the Merseyside club responded to him on Twitter:
It goes without saying that Liverpool have the quality to finish inside the top four.
But Klopp’s side have been stuttering all season long and it really wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they dropped points against Newcastle.
Liverpool have won just one of their last nine Premier League games at Anfield – and even that required a last-minute winner from Trent Alexander-Arnold to down Aston Villa earlier this month.
Their home form has been dreadful for months, but Wijnaldum and his team-mates must put a stop to it.
