Not many people expected Southampton to take any points from Manchester City last night, let alone all three. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men withstood the former champions’ onslaught for most parts of the game but somehow managed to come away with a clean sheet.

Che Adams started the game for the Saints which was a bit of a surprise considering how much he has struggled since his big move last summer.

However, it was the former Birmingham man’s long-range stunner which helped his side pick up all three points against Manchester City.

As good as Adams’ goal was, all the eyes were on Danny Ings. The former Liverpool striker has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season having scored 18 goals in the competition so far.

Rumours even surfaced about a potential England call-up for the Euros which was meant to happen this year. Sadly, he will have to wait another year for that but Southampton fans couldn’t care less about that as long as he is banging in goals for them.

It really is nice to see Ings playing so well. The Englishman has been terribly unfortunate with injuries in his career. He missed 85 games for Liverpool due to a knee problem which pretty much ended his opportunity at Anfield.

Liverpool picked up a win against Aston Villa but they were made to work for it. Divock Origi was given a start but the Belgian failed to impress.

Some Liverpool fans, who saw Ings play for Southampton in the late game, wished that the Reds had sold Origi to the Saints instead of the Englishman who could have been so good for the champions this term.

Here’s how a few Liverpool supporters reacted after Ings’ performance last night.
