Liverpool supporters on Twitter were impressed with Virgil van Dijk’s first start for the club against Bologna on Thursday.
Whilst Liverpool supporters have seen their towering centre-back in training and from the bench in pre-season, they were yet to see him start a game since his long-term injury.
Well, his first proper return to action has certainly pleased a lot of supporters and the fact that he came out for the second half was even better for them.
Van Dijk played 42 minutes for the Merseyside club, as the Reds beat the Italian outfit 2-0 in a 60-minute game.
Even though the Dutchman has been out for so long, the Liverpool fans shared how their star man was back to his old self in next to no time.
Some even questioned whether he will be ready for Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Norwich next week.
Regardless of whether he starts that game or not, one thing is for sure, the ultra-cool defender is edging closer to being back to his absolute best.
Now it’s a case of taking more steps forward and perhaps getting 60 minutes under his belt before he can start for the full 90.
