Some Liverpool fans react to reports Barcelona want Simon Mignolet

A number of Liverpool fans have been left surprised by reports that Barcelona could target Simon Mignolet.

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from Marca over the weekend which suggested that Barcelona could make a move for Simon Mignolet this summer.

Marca reports that Barca are prepared to let Jasper Cillessen leave the Nou Camp this summer provided that any interested side offers around £26.8 million. And in preparation for the Dutchman’s potential departure, the La Liga side have put together a fairly extensive list of potential replacements.

While Marca suggests that he is not at the top of the list, Mignolet is reportedly a name that Barcelona could move for despite his previous inability to push in front of Loris Karius in the pecking order at Anfield.

The Belgian – who signed for £9 million in 2013, according to BBC Sport – has made more than 200 appearances for the Reds and has spent much of his spell with the club as number one.

However, Karius kept him out of the side during the second-half of last season and the Reds have now signed Alisson, so it would appear that Jurgen Klopp may perhaps be willing to let Mignolet move on if he is now deemed to be third choice on Merseyside.

The reports that Barcelona apparently want the 30-year-old have been met with plenty of surprise and confusion amongst the Liverpool fans. Some feel that he deserves the chance to go if it is offered, but many simply cannot believe that Barca are eyeing a move for the stopper.
