Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Renato Sanches’ performance during Portugal’s 3-0 win against Hungary at Euro 2020 on Tuesday.

Even though the previously Liverpool-linked player came onto the pitch in the 81st minute, he made quite the difference for his side.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Portugal were heading for a goalless draw, but Sanches made quite the impact in the middle of the park, which then saw his country score three goals in the next eight minutes.

Liverpool fans were loving what they were seeing from the aggressive-minded midfielder, who has come a long way since his infamous days in Swansea colours.

Back then, the erratic and error-prone youngster suffered relegation with the Welsh club in what has been his only spell in English football.

But since then, the now 23-year-old won the Ligue 1 title with Lile this season and that teenager that was breaking through at Bayern has no doubt matured and added a lot more composure to his game.

Back in December, rumours in Italy did suggest that Liverpool will be looking to bring in Sanches’ qualities this summer as Gini Wijnaldum’s replacement.

Fast forward to today and Wijnaldum has indeed left Liverpool on a free – and is now in PSG colours, so it will be interesting to see if a replacement is brought in.

Liverpool supporters clearly wouldn’t mind Jurgen Klopp and Co. having a pop at Sanches’ talents because his no-nonsense nature and ability to win duels high up the pitch is something that would, no doubt, be welcomed at Anfield.
