Liverpool have been hit hard by injuries this season. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are not expected back anytime soon, while Mohamed Salah is almost certain to miss this weekend’s game against Leicester City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also on the list of casualties, as is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is yet to play for Liverpool this season. Jurgen Klopp will be pulling his hair out, but he might have some good news soon.

Liverpool released pictures of their stars working in the gym on Thursday. Midfield duo Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara were both in the training complex and Reds fans went wild on social media.

The Brazilian has been out with a hamstring problem since the start of the month. Fabinho’s injury is a huge loss for Liverpool as he can play both in his natural midfield position as well as in central defence; an area where the Reds are really short in numbers at the moment.

Summer signing Thiago is another player who hasn’t quite had the luck he would have liked. The former Bayern Munich star stole the show with brilliant a performance against Chelsea earlier in the season, but he has played just once since then.

Liverpool fans can’t wait to see him back in action, and it might happen as early as Sunday.

If at least one of the two is fit, Klopp’s problems will decrease significantly. A player like Fabinho could make a huge difference in defence, especially against someone like Jamie Vardy who will be looking to hurt Liverpool on Sunday.

Thiago’s creativity in the middle of the park could also change the game for Liverpool. The Spaniard can make Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino’s job a whole lot easier, and Reds fans are praying that he and Fabinho will be back.
