Liverpool fans on Twitter have provided a mixed reaction to the news that Jordan Henderson will miss their Monday night clash against Arsenal because it also means Thiago could make his first start.

On one hand, they are missing their leader in the middle of the park, but equally, it opens up the opportunity for their new signing Thiago coming in for the Englishmen – dare it be said but the Spanish playmaker could make the champions more dangerous, which could spell bad news for the Gunners.

Jurgen Klopp claimed that Henderson will miss their upcoming Premier League fixture after he was substituted at half-time during their win at Chelsea last time out.

But the German did hint that Thiago could start in place of Henderson because he said that he’s in ‘contention, that’s for sure’, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Liverpool fans are disappointed that Henderson won’t feature against Arsenal because his aggression and ability to eek every quality out of his teammates in tough situations will be missed against Mikel Arteta’s side.

It needs to be remembered that the North London club did beat them in the Premier League during the restart last season, and in the community shield.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

But equally, Liverpool supporters are excited at the prospect of the technically-gifted and more attack-minded Thiago starting because he will bring something different to Klopp’s workman-like midfield.

It will be interesting to see what affect Thiago potentially starting has on Monday, as Liverpool fans reacted to Henderson being out of the Arsenal clash:
