Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Chelsea signing Kai Havertz.
Liverpool were linked with Havertz earlier in the summer transfer window, but it is their Premier League rivals Chelsea who have signed the attacking player.
As announced on the Blues’ official website on Friday, the 21-year-old – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – have signed for the London club on a five-year contract.
According to BBC Sport, Chelsea have paid Bayer Leverkusen a transfer fee of £71 million, including add-ons, in order to secure the services of the Germany international.
Goal.com reported in May that Liverpool were looking into the possibility of signing the youngster.
According to WhoScored, Havertz made 29 starts and one substitute appearance in the Bundesliga for Bayer last season, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in the process.
The 21-year-old also scored four goals and provided two assists in five Europa League matches, and he played in five Champions League games as well in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.
