Liverpool fans have hailed the performance of Fabinho after his robust performance against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

It was a difficult night for the travelling side, with chances and opportunities limited in the face of a dogged Italian defence.

Klopp and his team return home disappointed after a 2-0 defeat, thanks to a penalty converted by Dries Mertens and a late goal from Fernando Llorente.

The Reds’ attacking stars failed to really shine and there’s no doubt the European champions were below their blistering best.

Fabinho however, deployed in a more defensive role, showed his qualities in the middle of the park.

As shown by WhoScored, he had a pass success rate of 95%, very rarely giving away possession.

He completed 60 accurate passes, more than any other player on the pitch

With six tackles and an interception to his name too, he was a huge thorn in Napoli’s side and can feel hard done by that the hosts managed to pick up all three points.

It’s the kind of performance that Liverpool will need from him in Europe this season if they are to have a chance of retaining their Champions League crown.

If this display from Fabinho can be coupled with players such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino hitting top form, Klopp’s team will be tough to beat.

Liverpool supporters were certainly delighted with Fabinho’s showing, taking to Twitter on Tuesday night to share their thoughts…
