Liverpool supporters on Twitter are reacting to Philippe Countinho’s goal versus Manchester United this evening.
The former Liverpool playmaker came off the bench to produce an inspired cameo on his Aston Villa debut.
Coutinho came on with 22 minutes to go and swiftly set up Jacob Ramsey who made it 2-1.
However, the pint-sized Brazilian then struck himself to level up against the Red Devils and cause eruptions inside Villa Park.
It certainly wasn’t the most difficult goal that the Barcelona loanee will ever score, but Villa boss – and Liverpool icon – Steven Gerrard won’t have cared one iota.
Here’s how some supporters of the Anfield club reacted to his heroics on Twitter:
Getting Coutinho back to the sort of form which earned Liverpool a massive £142 million four years ago is exactly what Gerrard would’ve been hoping when he signed the South American wizard last week.
And although you can’t definitively claim that Coutinho is ‘back’, this is certainly evidence that he’s hungry to be a big player in the Premier League once again.
A Bruno Fernandes double had given United a very comfortable lead prior to Coutinho’s introduction, but it wasn’t enough.

Because of the occasion, Coutinho was always going to be motivated, given that it was the Red Devils and he’s a former Liverpool player.
Silly as it sounds, bigger tests could come in much smaller games, the encounters that are a lot more difficult to muster motivation for.
The Villans’ next two home games are against Leeds United and Watford for instance, two outfits nowhere near as big as Manchester United.
But for now, Coutinho, with a goal and assist on his debut under Gerrard, will be loving life back in England – and rightly so.
