Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been celebrating his new status as a world record holder on Twitter.

The 21-year-old is a new entrant in the 2020 Guinness book of world records after contributing a superb 12 assists in the English Premier League last season.

That sets a new standard for defenders in the division, beating precious record holders Andy Hinchcliffe and Leighton Baines, who both managed 11 with Everton in 1994/95 and 2010/11.

It was a part of a 16 assist total in all competitions, with the player also helping the Reds achieve UEFA Champions League glory.

Already assisting three times this season, he’s well on his way to producing another heavy total from the right flank.

Liverpool’s double attacking full-back system has been thrilling to watch over the last couple of seasons, with Andy Robertson also racking up the assists on the opposite flank.

Still at the early stages of his career, there’s real hope that in Alexander-Arnold’s case he can be a mainstay for the Reds over the next decade.

He’s certainly well on his way to fulfilling his potential as a once-in-a-generation homegrown talent.

Will he get even better over the next few years?
