Liverpool fans on Twitter have reacted to the rumours that their rivals Everton could be pulling off a surprise deal this summer in the shape of James Rodriguez.
Sky Sports have reported that the Toffees are closing in on the Real Madrid player, with their offer for his services being considered by the Spanish champions.
Whilst Liverpool marched to the Premier League title last season, their neighbours endured yet another disappointing campaign despite splashing the cash once more during the transfer market.
It has ended up with Carlo Ancelotti now hoping to guide the club back to Europe, and just like the Reds, compete with the best.
But it’s quite clear that Ancelotti’s side are some way off that, but would a player like Rodriguez turn the tide for Everton towards brighter European shores?

Ancelotti has worked with the left-footed technician at both Bayern Munich and Real, so if there’s anyone who knows his game then it’s the Italian.
Everton’s midfield is need of re-construction and a player of Rodriguez’s ilk would fit the mould and grab the attention of those outside of Goodison Park.
But it’s a simple case of whether the Columbian can weave his magic on the Premier League stage because he hasn’t risen to the top like many thought he would do.
