Liverpool fans on Twitter believe Gini Wijnaldum is already thinking about leaving after he responded to the Barcelona rumours from the summer.

The 29-year-old stated that ‘you never know’ in regards to his future, as he told Sky Sports – his current deal has 10 months to run.

A selection of Liverpool fans have hit out at him because they think he is planning to leave and, as a result, he is wasting opportunities for others if that’s the case.

It has to be questioned if Wijnaldum did want to stay at Liverpool then he wouldn’t have waited this long to pen down his future on Merseyside.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will always be a big attraction to superstar players. Even bigger names have left Anfield for the Nou Camp than Wijnaldum – Luis Suarez is one – so it’s understandable that he can also follow suit.

Plus, Koeman is currently in the hot seat, so there’s another layer to this story that Wijnaldum could be in his last season for the Reds.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

Either way, Liverpool supporters feel that he’s hinting that he will be off and he hasn’t been the same ever since those rumours surfaced.

Wijnaldum is a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s machine-like midfield, and whilst he hasn’t showcased his forward-thinking play, he does have that in his locker.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Wijnaldum’s comments:
