Divock Origi’s name will be all over the back pages after Liverpool’s dramatic win against Wolves, but it’s Joel Matip who has been receiving plaudits on social media.
Indeed, while Origi netted the late winner, the Reds also owe a lot to their defence for keeping a clean sheet, and Matip was a star at the back today.
The Cameroon international was incredible. He was at the centre of the Reds’ build-up against Wolves, having 100 touches of the ball, while he also made more tackles and more dribbles than any of his teammates.
The centre-back didn’t put a foot wrong and his composure on the ball was instrumental to the Reds’ victory at Molineux.
Fans on social media were basking in his performance and they really didn’t have enough good things to say about the defender.
