Some Liverpool fans have all noticed the same thing about Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian attacker struggled again in the visit of West Ham United to Anfield tonight.
Firmino, who signed for Liverpool in 2015, struggled to link up with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane as effectively as he has done in recent years.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp took him off on 71 minutes and his replacement, Diogo Jota, wound up firing the Premier League champions into a 2-1 lead, after an earlier one from the Portuguese was ruled out.
The former Hoffenheim star has only managed 13 goals in his last 61 games for Liverpool across all competitions.
His game was never strictly about goals, as Klopp will tell you, but he still scored 16 times during the 2018-19 campaign – and 27 the season before.
He looks to be declining on a number of different levels in regards to his influence.
And some Liverpool supporters are saying that he just isn’t the same player anymore. Here’s how they reacted to his performance tonight:
It’s a pretty sad observation to make when you consider how popular he was among Liverpool fans at one point.
That being said, he’s still clearly a brilliant footballer and with Jota hitting the ground running at Anfield, that might spark him into life once again.
Jota’s contribution tonight means that Firmino really isn’t an automatic starter any longer and once that sinks in, he should be motivated to improve.
