Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are raving about Mateusz Klich’s performance against Stoke City today.

The Polish midfielder was a surprise inclusion in Marcelo Bielsa’s first XI as Leeds kicked off their Championship campaign with a win over Stoke City at Elland Road.

However, Klich, a £1.5 million signing from Twente last summer [Yorkshire Evening Post], justified his selection and fired the Whites ahead after just 15 minutes.

The 28-year-old posted a major shift in midfield and some Leeds fans gave him a standing ovation after Bielsa took him off with 15 minutes to go.

It represents quite a turnaround for a player who only managed three Championship appearances under Thomas Christiansen last season, before being loaned to Utrecht for the second half of the campaign.

And here is how some fans of the West Yorkshire giants reacted to his heroics today:

Klich started ahead of Lewis Baker – who joined from Chelsea on a season-long loan – but the English midfielder has his work cut out for him if he is to displace the Pole or Kalvin Phillips in midfield.

They both posted excellent performances and perhaps the wound from losing Ronaldo Vieira will heal a little quicker if Klich and Phillips are playing like that for most of the season.
