Some Leeds United fans have urged head coach Marcelo Bielsa to include Diego Llorente in the starting lineup against Newcastle United.

Llorente was in action for the Leeds U23 side against their Stoke City counterparts at Thorp Arch this afternoon.

The Spain international central defender played for the first 45 minutes and scored from a header on 28 minutes.

The 27-year-old played alongside Charlie Cresswell in defence in the Premier League 2 game.

Llorente set up Sam Greenwood for a chance early on before going close with an effort from 40 yards.

Llorente joined Leeds from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2020, but the Spain international has been able to make only one substitute appearance in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored.

The Spaniard has had injury and fitness problems, but he looked sharp and strong today, and some Leeds fans on Twitter want head coach Bielsa to include him in the starting lineup against Newcastle, as shown below.

Leeds will take on Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on January 26.
