Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter to Daniel James’ debut during their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Elland Road.
On transfer deadline day, and at the second time of asking, Leeds secured James’ signature from Manchester United, with a two-and-a-half-year delay and via Old Trafford rather than the Liberty Stadium.
Marcelo Bielsa opted against starting the speedster today, but he did introduce him into proceedings just after the hour mark for Jack Harrison.
For large parts, Leeds fans were pretty positive about what they saw from James, even though their team suffered a costly defeat.
By the time James entered the field, he was facing an uphill task to turn things around because his team were 2-0 down.
Added with that, the Whites were down to ten men after Pascal Struijk was shown a straight red for his challenge on Harvey Elliott.
Unfortunately for the Liverpool teenager, it seemed a pretty serious injury and one that many will be hoping he recovers from and will be a lot better than what the early signs suggest.
Onto footballing matters, Bielsa’s side, added with James’ raw pace out on the flanks, tried and tried to make something of the game.
But Liverpool, who have won three out of their four Premier League games this season, showed why they are in that position.
Next up for Leeds is an away clash against another team searching for a first win of the season – Newcastle United.
And following James’ cameo appearance, it will be interesting to see if he makes his first start for the club on Friday night.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to James’ performance today:
