Leeds United’s pre-season friendly vs Blackburn Rovers wasn’t one for the ages, but it did provide us with our first opportunity to see Junior Firpo in a Leeds shirt.
The Spaniard joined the Whites from Barcelona earlier this summer, and on Wednesday evening we got our first glimpse of what he could bring to the Elland Road outfit this season.
Firpo played 60 minutes on his debut, coming off when the game was 0-0, and while the former Barcelona man kept a clean sheet during his time on the pitch, it was his attacking intent that caught the eye.
Indeed, the Leeds fanbase were seemingly blown away by Firpo’s pace and willingness to get forward, and they’ve been full of praise for the left-back on social media.
Left-back has been a problem position for Leeds for far too long, but with Firpo, it seems as though Marcelo Bielsa finally has an adequate solution in that spot.
Of course, this was only against Championship opposition, and fans are always bound to get carried away on a player’s debut, but based on what the Elland Road faithful have been saying, Leeds may have a real gem on their hands.
