The Leeds United captain is out for the best part of the next two months.

Liam Cooper of Leeds United applauds after the Sky Bet Championship match between Wigan Athletic and Leeds United at the DW Stadium, Wigan on Saturday 17th August 2019.

Some Leeds United supporters want Pascal Struijk to take Liam Cooper’s place in Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

Cooper suffered a groin injury during Leeds’ 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

And the club confirmed earlier this evening that their captain will miss the next six weeks of football as a consequence.

It was Gateano Berardi who came on for Cooper against West Brom.

But Struijk looks the next most likely option to partner Ben White, after a string of impressive displays for Leeds Under-23s.

Ben White of Leeds United arriving at the Peninsula Stadium for the Carabao Cup match between Salford City and Leeds United at Moor Lane, Salford on Tuesday 13th August 2019.

And while the former Ajax teenager is still awaiting his first-team debut, the following Whites want him to get the nod against Millwall on Saturday…

Full-backs Luke Ayling and Leif Davis could be considered as Cooper replacements, while Kalvin Phillips, a central midfielder, has also played centre-back before.

Struijk joined Leeds from Ajax in January 2018 and was part of the Whites’ successful U23s side, managed by Carlos Corberan, last season.

Leeds fans – who would you like to see come in for Cooper?
