Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are calling on Marcelo Bielsa to recall Liam Cooper this afternoon.
The Whites are gearing up for a first Premier League game at Elland Road for 16 years as Fulham visit West Yorkshire.
Leeds gave a fine account of themselves last week in losing 4-3 away to champions Liverpool.
You could argue that Bielsa’s side might not have conceded four goals if they had their captain and best centre-back Cooper, who missed out due to injury.
But the United boss confirmed to a press conference on Thursday that the former Chesterfield powerhouse – a £750,000 signing in 2014 – had shrugged off that problem.
Bielsa is a big fan of young centre-back Pascal Struijk, who started in Cooper’s absence last week, but some Leeds fans are desperate to see their Scotland international return to the first XI today.
Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter:
If Leeds play against Fulham like they did at Anfield, it’ll be a first top-flight win since 2004.
But it’s easier for Bielsa to motivate his troops for Liverpool away, a game that they were expected to lose emphatically, than it is for the Cottagers at home, when they’ll be favourites.
This is a game that the Whites could and probably should win, but this is the Premier League now and there are no easy games.
