Former Leeds United Pontus Jansson played a starring role in helping his current side to third spot in the Championship last night.
Jansson, who quit Leeds to join Brentford last summer, skippered the Bees to a massive 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Griffin Park.
In doing so, the London side moved third in the Championship and if the Whites beat Fulham at Elland Road this afternoon, they’ll leapfrog Albion at the summit.
The Sweden international was a popular player among United fans during his three-year spell in West Yorkshire.
In fact, he was looking very much like Mr Leeds for a while, and here’s how fans of his former club reacted to the big defender’s post-match celebrations on Twitter last night:
What a huge game today is for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Despite losing 2-0 at Cardiff City last weekend, Leeds kept their seven-point cushion in the top two, but now they’re only five ahead of Brentford.
And victory over the Cottagers today would give them an eight-point cushion with only seven games left.
It’s a chance that Leeds simply can’t pass up.
