Leeds United kick off their season at Elland Road tomorrow.

Liam Cooper of Millwall is sent off during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Millwall at Elland Road on January 20, 2018 in Leeds, England.

Liam Cooper has stoked the fire ahead of Leeds United’s Championship opener by wishing his team-mates a successful season.

Leeds kick off their 2018-19 campaign by hosting Stoke City at Elland Road tomorrow afternoon.

Big things are expected of the Whites at this stage every year but the West Yorkshire side remain absent from the Premier League for 14 years.

However, there is even more pressure on United to end that hoodoo this time around after appointing Marcelo Bielsa as head coach, and signing the likes of Lewis Baker, Barry Douglas and Patrick Bamford.

Club captain Cooper is expected to start tomorrow’s visit of City. The English centre-back is a divisive figure among many Leeds fans, but a lot of them were firmly behind his pre-season message on Twitter.

Cooper is likely to start tomorrow but it remains to be seen who partners him in central defence, after Bielsa ruled out Pontus Jansson.

The Sweden international has only been back in West Yorkshire for a week after helping his country to a World Cup quarter-final earlier in the summer.

Jansson and Cooper were outstanding in the opening stages of last season, so to be missing the former Torino man for the curtain raiser is a major blow.
