It was a bittersweet afternoon for a lot of Leeds United fans on Saturday.
On one hand, a lot of the Whites’ support will have been delighted to see Ben White back at Elland Road.
On the other, they probably wish that their former loanee wasn’t on the winning side.
White helped Brighton & Hove Albion to a 1-0 win away to Leeds yesterday afternoon.
This was the 23-year-old’s first time back in West Yorkshire since helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side to Premier League promotion last term.
Leeds tried several times to sign the young centre-back on a permanent basis but a price tag of £50 million meant he was well out of their budget.
After the win, White revealed that it was ‘amazing’ to rub shoulders with some of his former Leeds team-mates.
And here’s how some United fans responded to him on social media:
Diego Llorente and Robin Koch were ultimately signed to be Bielsa’s centre-backs this season, but both have endured injury-hit first years in England and there’s a lot of supporters who’ll be gutted that a move to re-sign White never quite materialised.
