Roberts started on the wing as Leeds edged past Bolton.

Tyler Roberts finally earned his Leeds United debut eight months after joining the club in January from West Bromwich Albion as the Whites edged past Bolton Wanderers – but some fans weren’t particularly impressed.
Roberts, 19, joined Leeds for a fee of £2.5million in January (Birmingham Mail) but a training injury meant he was forced to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the 2017-18 campaign.
Since then, Roberts has been left on the bench by Marcelo Bielsa during the wins against Stoke City and Derby County, but was given a start against Bolton in the Carabao Cup first round.
Goals from Patrick Bamford on his first full start and a first of the season for Samu Saiz gave Leeds a 2-0 lead at half-time, and they held on to progress at Elland Road despite Erhun Otzumer’s second-half strike.

Roberts started on the flank alongside Saiz, Lewis Baker and Jack Harrison, with Kalvin Phillips sitting in the holding midfield role again. Roberts hardly got involved, and was withdrawn after 68 minutes.
Some Leeds fans reacted to his performance after the full-time whistle on Twitter, with many left unconvinced and surprised that he had struggled to come to terms with the pace of the game.
