Leeds United drew their latest pre-season game, and the fans were not impressed by Samu Saiz.
A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Samu Saiz’s display during the Whites’ draw with Southend on Sunday, with many completely underwhelmed by his performance in the Roots Hall clash.
Marcelo Bielsa has overseen a mixed pre-season thus far. A narrow win over Forest Green Rovers was followed by a draw with York City in midweek. He reverted to a much stronger side against the League One outfit at the weekend, but the Whites failed to get their second win of the summer.
Luke Ayling’s well taken goal was only good enough for a 1-1 draw, and the Leeds fans seemed to come out of the game feeling that several of their players had underperformed and probably missed an opportunity to prove a point to Bielsa.
And one of those who came in for criticism was Saiz. The Spaniard endured a mixed first season at Elland Road. At his best, he looked like one of the very best players in the Championship. However, there were a number of times when his form went off the boil considerably and, of course, his attitude was questioned on a number of occasions.
And it appears that he is not hitting the ground running at the start of this season either. After an underwhelming performance against Forest Green, he seemed to struggle to make any sort of impact against Southend.
And the supporters have suggested that the playmaker needs to step up significantly if he is going to find his best form during the coming campaign.
