A number of Leeds United fans were delighted with Mateusz Klich’s performance during the Whites’ final pre-season friendly.

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Mateusz Klich after the midfielder put in a superb performance during the Whites’ final pre-season friendly of the summer, which ended with Marcelo Bielsa’s men claiming a 1-0 win over Las Palmas.

It has been a difficult pre-season for Bielsa. There have been victories over the likes of Forest Green Rovers and Guiseley, but draws with York City and Southend, and a defeat against Oxford United had left the supporters with plenty of concerns heading into the clash with the Spanish side at Elland Road on Sunday.

It was certainly set to be Leeds’ toughest test of the summer on paper, but it is likely that the fans are a lot more optimistic after Kemar Roofe scored the game’s only goal late on to send the Whites into their Championship opener with Stoke City off the back of a win.

There were a number of impressive performers on show, and one of the displays that seemed to receive amongst the most praise came from Klich – who has arguably used pre-season better than anyone else in the Whites’ squad.

Heading into the summer, it appeared that the Poland international’s future may lie away from Elland Road after an extremely difficult first season. However, Bielsa – seemingly tentatively at first – reintroduced the 28-year-old into the fold and he has grasped the chance with both hands.

Klich has arguably been one of Leeds’ best performers throughout the summer, and he staked a real claim to make the starting lineup when the Whites face Stoke next weekend with another superb display after coming on at half-time against Las Palmas.

It certainly appears that many of the supporters hope to see Klich handed a start on the opening day of the campaign after his latest performance.
