Leeds earned a narrow pre-season win in Marcelo Bielsa’s first game in charge.

Marcelo Bielsa earned a 2-1 victory in his first match as Leeds United manager on Tuesday night, as the Yorkshire outfit saw off the threat of League Two side Forest Green Rovers – and some Leeds fans discussed Gjanni Alioski’s display.
Former Argentina manager Bielsa named a strong starting eleven in his first match as boss, but only including four young substitutes in Kamil Miazek, Hugo Diaz, Oriol Rey and Sam Dalby. They all failed to get on the pitch.
All three goals were scored in the first half – Leeds took the lead through Kemar Roofe who slotted home after some poor Rovers defending from a corner, before Roofe turned provider and set up Luke Ayling to slot home.
But the Gloucestershire-based side pegged their Championship opposition back just before the half-time whistle, with a nice strike from winger Dayle Grubb. The scoreline remained the same, earning Bielsa a narrow win in his first game.

Leeds were far from their best, though, with a number of players seemingly off the pace. Stuart Dallas struggled at left-back, while the need for a striker was obvious. But some fans were mostly disappointed 26-year-old Alioski’s performance.
The Macedonia international failed to make much happen throughout the game, frustrating Leeds fans and giving the ball away more so than keeping it. Fans voiced their concerns over the winger’s showing.
