Some Leeds United fans on Twitter believe that Eunan O’Kane’s selection in today’s Under-23 game means that he has no future under Marcelo Bielsa.

The Republic of Ireland international was a surprise inclusion in this afternoon’s visit to Ossett United as Leeds’ fringe players managed a 1-0 win.

O’Kane, playing in Carlos Corberan’s back three, set up Alex Wollerton for the winner.

The 28-year-old has managed 56 Championship appearance for the Whites since joining under Garry Monk two years ago.

And some fans of the Elland Road club reckon that his demotion is ominous for his future at United going forward.

Luke Murphy also started the clash at Ossett and therefore it looks unlikely that he has much of a role to play under Bielsa too.

The 28-year-old hasn’t made a league appearance for the Whites since Steve Evans’s reign in West Yorkshire over two years ago, and Murphy, who spent last season at Burton Albion on loan, seems unlikely to change that anytime soon.

As it stands, it would be a massive shock if O’Kane – whose game time dwindled severely once Thomas Christiansen was sacked in February of last season – or Murphy are in the squad for Leeds’ Championship opener against Stoke on August 5.
