Leeds United’s Conor Shaughnessy looks to have regained full fitness following a long-term ankle problem.

It looks like Leeds United centre-back Conor Shaughnessy is back in training.
The 22-year-old defender was spotted in a video that was released by Leeds’ official Twitter account on Friday, in which the Irishman wore the club’s training gear.
The former Reading man hasn’t kicked a ball for the Whites since way back in January after spending most of 2018 being plagued with an ankle problem.
Shaughnessy broke into United’s senior side under Thomas Christiansen last summer and produced a series of impressive displays during the Spaniard’s reign in West Yorkshire.
And here is how Leeds fans reacted to his return to training:
Indeed, Shaughnessy’s return is a boost, but Leeds still need a top-drawer centre-back to partner Pontus Jansson next season. The Irishman and Liam Cooper are Marcelo Bielsa’s only options as it stands and the Whites could really do with a better option than both as they look to win promotion.
In all probability, United’s Director of Football Victor Orta will wind up signing a central defender, after the number 5 shirt – worn by Matthew Pennington and Kyle Bartley over the past two years – was left vacant when the squad numbers were released on Thursday.
