Leeds United have sent Jay-Roy Grot on loan to VVV-Venlo.
Leeds United need to offload a number of players this summer, and forward Jay-Roy Grot has been farmed out on loan to Dutch side VVV-Venlo for first-team experience.
The Whites have managed to offload Andrew Lonergan, Felix Wiedwald and Madger Gomes, whilst Paudie O’Connor, Lewie Coyle, Tyler Denton and Pawel Cibicki have all been loaned out for playing time.
Another loan deal was struck on Thursday as striker Jay-Roy Grot was sent back to the Netherlands with VVV-Venlo, just a year after arriving from NEC Nijmegen.
Director of football Victor Orta swooped to sign the 20-year-old forward after scoring six times in 35 games for NEC Nijmegen, and he arrived with expectations after emerging as a talented youngster in Dutch football.
Grot started just one Championship and only four in all competitions, making 19 substitute appearances as notched just one goal and one assist in 301 minutes of Championship action.
It was clear that Grot isn’t quite ready for Championship football, and he has now been sent back to play in the Eredivisie with VVV-Venlo in order to give him first-team football away from Elland Road.
Now, Leeds fans have been taking to Twitter to react, with some cynically suggesting that he will never be back at Elland Road as Leeds only loaned him out because nobody would buy him.
Others think that Grot can use the upcoming season to improve and return a better player, with a real split opinion on whether he can salvage his Leeds career when he returns in 2019….
