Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are absolutely loving footage of Gaetano Berardi.
The no-nonsense Swiss defender was spotted doing some light exercise at Thorp Arch on Friday afternoon.
Berardi, who is Leeds’ longest-serving player, hasn’t kicked a ball in the Premier League for United as of yet after suffering a long-term injury toward the end of last season, after helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side win promotion back to the top flight.
The 32-year-old is a firm fan favourite among the Elland Road faithful and it would be quite a beautiful story if he were to make top-flight appearances this season.
With Leeds’ defensive issues and Berardi very close to being fit, that’s a real possibility.
Here’s how fans of the West Yorkshire club reacted to seeing him on Friday:
Leeds are away to Arsenal tomorrow but clearly that comes way too soon for the Swiss powerhouse.
But Bielsa’s side will still have 15 more Premier League games to go after returning from the Emirates and it does look probable that he’ll get his chance because, being honest, he deserves a taste of this division as much as anybody in that squad.
