Leeds continued their poor start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 loss to West Ham United, yet Illan Meslier was yet again a star performer.
The French youngster has been one of the top shot-stoppers in the Premier League since breaking into the first team last season. Under Marcelo Bielsa, Meslier has established himself as a key man for Leeds.
Indeed, the 21-year-old is one of the best goalkeeping talents currently plying their trade in Europe. And yesterday was another showcase display for Meslier, even with Leeds losing to West Ham.
The France U-21 keeper made an impressive five saves against the Hammers whilst also making four high claims and completing three clearances.
Indeed, it’s hard to paper over the cracks of Leeds’ Premier League season so far. The Yorkshire side are yet to win a game, with Bielsa’s side currently sitting in the relegation zone.
And this latest result will do little to convince the Elland Road faithful that things will improve. Injuries have been a killer for Leeds, but their overall performance against West Ham, baring Meslier, was way below par.
