Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has some Leeds United fans talking on Twitter.
The 21-year-old hitman opened the scoring for the Gunners in this evening’s visit to Southampton in the Premier League.
Nketiah, who spent the first half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Leeds, forced goalkeeper Alex McCarthy into a mistake with his high-energy pressing and then tapped home into an empty net.
Arsenal prematurely recalled him from his season-long loan at Elland Road in January after Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa started him only twice in the Championship from August to December.
In total, Nketiah managed only 496 minutes of league football under the Argentine – the equivalent of five-and-a-half full matches – but it looks like the young marksman learned the importance of pressing under Bielsa nevertheless.
Leeds are known for their relentless off-the-ball work under Bielsa, the like of which potentially forced McCarthy into the error at St Mary’s tonight.
And some fans of the West Yorkshire club believe that Arsenal’s opener was made in Thorp Arch. Here’s how they reacted to the goal on Twitter:
