Leeds and Arsenal fans made it clear that Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish needs to start for England in the knockout stages after Tuesday’s performance against the Czech Republic.
The Villa man provided an assist as the Three Lions beat the Czech’s 1-0 in their final Euro 2020 group game – and Leeds and Arsenal fans liked what they saw.
England supporters up and down the land have been calling for Grealish to start for his country, and inside 15 minutes, he showed why those cries were being made.
It was his brilliantly lofted cross that found Raheem Sterling at the far post, as he headed home after just 12 minutes.
Just like he does in the colours of Claret & Blue, Grealish was gliding across the pitch in an effortless fashion, winning fouls, committing players and adding some much-needed flair to this England side.
Leeds and Arsenal fans were saying the same thing about the 25-year-old about how he brings that X-factor to this England side.
But most importantly, when the players line up for their knockout clash next Tuesday.
Then they want the expert ball-carrier in the starting XI, but of course, there is that worry that Gareth Southgate won’t start him.
Whilst Phil Foden is still a top talent, Grealish has done more in one hour of football than the Manchester City man has produced during his two matches.
If Grealish is indeed on the bench for the next game then it won’t be met with a friendly response.
