The Rangers coach reverted back to a youth team role after Steven Gerrard arrived at Ibrox.

The Rangers youth coach Graeme Murty is wanted by some fans south of the border.
Murty, who joined Rangers in 2016 and has had two spells as caretaker boss at Ibrox, is perhaps best known for an 11-year playing spell at Reading.
The Yorkshire-born Scot captained the Royals for much of that time, as the Berkshire club rose from what is now League One to the Premier League.
After the sacking of Jose Gomes on Wednesday, Murty’s name is high on some bookmakers’ list of likely replacements.

And the following Reading supporters would welcome a raid on Rangers…
Murty has also coached at Norwich City as well as Rangers, but has never held a permanent manager’s role of his own.
Reading invested heavily on players under Gomes, with the former Rangers loanee Ovie Ejaria among their summer recruits, but sit 22nd in England’s second tier.
Mark Hughes, whose long-term associate Mark Bowen is the Royals’ sporting director, is the current favourite for Gomes’s job with the majority of bookmakers.
Rangers fans – would Murty do a good job for Reading?
