Lord knows Tottenham Hotspur need to strengthen a lot of positions this summer.
Even if Harry Kane winds up staying at Spurs, the North Londoners are still going to need at least one striker after electing against a permanent deal for Carlos Vinicius.
And then there’s the defence where Toby Alderweireld – at 32 – is still Tottenham’s best centre-back.
Yep, Fabio Paratici has a lot of work to do this summer, but he also needs a goalkeeper.
Tottenham’s only senior options between the sticks are Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart, after Paulo Gazzaniga’s release.
And Calciomercato has reported that the Lilywhites are interested in signing Atalanta stopper Pierluigi Gollini, who was once on the books at Manchester United and Aston Villa.
Here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted on Twitter:
Still young
Well Gollini wasn’t a roaring success at Villa and considering they were a Championship club at the time, that’s even less optimistic.
But he was only 21 when he signed for the Villans and everybody knows that goalkeepers take longer to mature and can spend longer at the peak of their powers than, say, a winger.
The good news for Tottenham is that Gollini is still only 26 and if Paratici thinks he’s up for the task of returning to England, that judgement has to be respected.
