Former Leeds United striker has joined National League outfit Aldershot Town.

In one of the most unexpected transfers of the summer so far, the man who was released by Aston Villa this summer has agreed to play in the fifth tier of English football.

It didn’t work out for McCormack at Villa, but it’s clear from the reaction on social media that Leeds fans still hold him in high regard.

He smashed in 28 league goals in the Championship during the 2013-14 season, with many fans on Twitter saying those strikes kept Leeds in the second tier that term.

The Whites finished 15th at the end of that campaign, 13 points clear of relegation danger.

That summer, he left Leeds for Fulham on a deal the Independent report was worth £11 million.

The departure doesn’t look to have impacted his standing among the Whites fanbase, with plenty of well-wishes in the wake of his unexpected move.

It’s fair to see there are a few supporters there who would like to see the Scot regain his very best form at Aldershot.
