Some Crystal Palace fans on Twitter believe that they have a way to sign Odsonne Edouard for much less than Celtic’s valuation of him.
According to a report from The Sun in July, Palace are among the Premier League teams interested in the French marksman.
The English publication claims that the Eagles were weighing up a £25 million bid for Celtic’s prized asset.
That could be considered a relatively steep asking price for the Londoners, especially in light of the fact that they, like every club, have been losing millions through a late of match-day revenue.
But some Palace supporters believe that they could offer James McCarthy and money in exchange for Edouard.
According to 90 Min, Celtic are interested in signing McCarthy – who set them back £8.5 million [Sky Sports] only a year ago.
Here’s how they’re reacting to the rumour of Neil Lennon reportedly wanting the Glasgow-born Republic of Ireland midfielder:
Is this going to happen? Well, no.
Edouard is so much more important to Celtic than McCarthy would be. Fitness permitting, the former Paris Saint-Germain youth is guaranteed to score a minimum of 30 goals in all competitions this season and, with Lennon’s side going for 10-in-a-row, they just can’t afford to lose a commodity like this.
He is priceless.
It’s a nice idea by the Palace fans, but there’s no way it’s happening.
