Everton beat Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Everton picked up their first win of the Premier League season on Saturday afternoon, beating Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park.
The Toffees drew 2-2 at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend despite being down to 10 men for much of the game, and new boss Marco Silva was seeking a first home win on Saturday.
That’s exactly what he got, as ex-Southampton winger Theo Walcott returned to haunt his former club with the opening goal, before big-money signing Richarlison made it 2-0 with his third goal of the season.
Southampton’s former Liverpool striker Danny Ings returned to Merseyside with a goal to set up a tense finale, but Everton managed to hang on and claim the win.
Silva still has a host of players to come into the side, with Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes still to make their first starts, though some fans think Digne may have to sit on the sidelines for a while.
The French left back is one of three arrivals from Barcelona this summer, but he missed out on Saturday with an injury, and Leighton Baines put in a second impressive performance of the season despite his advancing years.

Baines was hailed by Everton fans on Twitter after the Southampton victory, with some suggesting that Digne may have to settle for a place on the bench with Baines playing so well to start the season.
Others think that it’s Digne’s arrival which has sparked an upturn in form from Baines, keeping him on his toes and keeping his standards high as Baines looks to surprisingly fend off Digne.
