Everton are reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo and many of the supporters are not happy.

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports emerging from the Daily Mirror this week which have suggested that the Toffees are leading the race to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo this summer.

Everton certainly need to look at adding to their defensive options. It appears to be becoming increasingly difficult to find a member of the Goodison Park faithful who does not believe that Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka need upgrading in the very near future.

The Toffees were poor at the back last term and have continued to concede goals in pre-season. It now appears that Marco Silva is looking to strengthen his ranks ahead of the opening game of the new Premier League season away to Wolves later this month.

The Mirror reports that Everton are leading the charge to bag Rojo’s signature. Manchester United are ready to let the 28-year-old leave during this window, but want £30 million for the Argentina international.

The news has prompted a mixed reaction on social media. There are some supporters who feel that he could be a decent addition to Silva’s squad given the current players available to the Portuguese. His combative nature also sees him win some support amongst a couple of fans.

However, it appears that the large majority want Everton to avoid pursuing a deal at all costs. Rojo has struggled for game-time at Old Trafford in recent times and has never really managed to cement himself as a key player, so paying £30 million seems incredibly steep to many.
