Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has reportedly rejected the chance to join Everton this summer.
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports emerging from The Times which suggested that Luke Shaw has turned down the chance to move to Goodison Park this summer.
Shaw’s career appears to be at a major crossroads right now. Manchester United fans have really only seen glimpses of his true quality and potential since he arrived for £30 million in 2014 – fee reported by The Times.
Under Jose Mourinho, the 23-year-old appears to have really lost his way and The Times has suggested that Marco Silva was interested in offering him the chance to seek a fresh challenge during this window.
However, Shaw has reportedly decided to stay at Old Trafford and potentially see out the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, prompting Everton to open negotiations with Barcelona over a potential move for Lucas Digne.
The news that Shaw is unlikely to join Everton has been met with a lot of positive reaction amongst Toffees fans on social media. It seems a long time since the full-back was deemed to be one of the brightest talents in the country and destined to establish himself as a stalwart in the England side in the coming years.
It is still possible that he could still become that player, but Everton fans are not convinced that they are missing out with Shaw reportedly rejecting him and are not particularly disappointed by the reports.
