Some Everton fans are mocking their Watford equivalents on Twitter after signing Richarlison on Tuesday evening.

Everton signed the Brazilian winger for a reported £50 million last night, according to BBC Sport.

In doing so, the 21-year-old reunites with Toffees boss Marco Silva, who signed him for Watford last August.

The Hornets might have received a huge windfall, but manager Javi Gracia, whose side finished eight points clear of relegation last season, still has to find a replacement for the schemer.

And some fans of the Goodison Park side have been trolling Watford supporters and teased them over the deal.

The Londoners have signed six players already this summer – including former Everton man Gerard Deulofeu – but their cash injection could and should see Gracia add further reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Richarlison represents the Merseysiders’ first signing of what had been a surprisingly quiet summer and you wonder whether this one could cause the floodgates to open.

But if the Toffees – who spent over £150 million last summer and grossly under-achieved – make a meal of their transfer business again this time around then maybe Watford fans will be having the last laugh.
