Some Everton fans believe they need Ross Barkley back after their season took another disappointing turn.
Back to back wins against Sunderland and Bournemouth had delivered fresh hope to Toffees supporters, although that was soon undone by Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Apollon Limassol.
Everton fell behind to the Cypriot side – the lowest-ranked in their Europe League group – at Goodison Park, before goals from Wayne Rooney and Nikola Vlasic spun the game on its head.
And the three points appeared to be in the bag when a former Sunderland defender, Valentin Roberge, saw red for the visitors four minutes from time, only for Ronald Koeman’s side to concede again three minutes later.
As far as many Everton fans are concerned, a lack of pace and urgency is one of the reasons behind their recent struggles, and some believe they’ve found a solution – if only he wasn’t injured for the best part of 2017.
