The Everton attacking midfielder scored a great goal on Saturday.

Some Everton fans aren’t keen on Gylfi Sigurdsson coming into Marco Silva’s side at the weekend despite his wonder goal against West Ham United.

The Icelandic international, signed for £45m from Swansea City (BBC), came off the bench and drilled in a long range effort against the Hammers, helping his side end a four-game winless streak in the English Premier League.

It was a stunning return to form for the player who has struggled to make an Everton impact recently.

Was it the kind of goal that could see him gain confidence and be selected in the team for the upcoming visit to Brighton?

That’s not something plenty of supporters want to see, feeling that the attacking midfielder still has a lot of work to do to make up for plenty of passive performances.

With the Toffees playing so well against West Ham, there is really no need to change a winning team.

Theo Walcott, Bernard and Richarlison were all top performers, while Alex Iwobi deserves another chance to show what he can do.

Used as an impact sub over the next few weeks, Sigurdsson could have a part to play, but keeping him on the bench for now could give him that hunger he needs to push on his game to peak levels once again.
