The Celtic goalkeeper has committed his long-term future to the club.

Scott Bain of Celtic celebrates his sides third goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium on May 04, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Celtic announced via their official website on Thursday that goalkeeper Scott Bain has extended his contract at the club.

Bain put pen to paper on a new deal this morning, committing his future to the Hoops until the summer of 2023.

It comes after James Forrest also signed a new deal earlier this week.

Celtic are clearly looking to tie down their talented Scottish talent for the years ahead, with the Neil Lennon taking looking positive in its early stages.

Bain’s situation at the Hoops could have been argued to be insecure following the loan signing of Fraser Forster.

The Englishman has been in superb form since making the switch from Southampton, firmly securing himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

With Craig Gordon also at the club, where does Bain fit in?

It seems that Celtic are protecting themselves against any upheaval at the end of the season, with Forster due to return to his parent club and Gordon’s contract expiring.

Whatever happens with those two, Bain is well place to compete for the goalkeeper’s position.

Celtic fans seem generally receptive to the deal, with these supporters taking to Twitter to share their thoughts today…
