Some Celtic fans have mocked Old Firm rivals Rangers over their reported bid for Kyle Lafferty.

According to STV, Rangers tried and failed to re-sign their former striker when a £200,000 bid was knocked back by Hearts on Friday.

The 30-year-old striker is a pantomime villain for Celtic fans after previously spending four years at Ibrox until 2012.

When Lafferty returned to the Scottish Premiership last summer, the Northern Ireland international warned that ‘things were about to change’ [The Record] for Brendan Rodgers’s side, who had just won a domestic treble – and repeated the feat in May.

Some Rangers fans on Twitter have been trolling their bitter rivals in recent weeks over their failure to cough up the requisite transfer fee to sign John McGinn.

And fans of the Parkhead club have got their own back now after what looks to be a very low bid for someone who scored 19 goals across all competitions for Hearts last season.

Lafferty managed more goals against Brendan Rodgers’s Hoops side last season than Rangers did in total, underscoring why a £200,000 offer was rejected.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has signed 10 players this summer but if the former Blues hitman is to be number 11 then they’ll have to raise their bid by quite a bit one would imagine.
