Joe Hart didn’t get many minutes at Tottenham, but he was thrown straight into the deep end by Celtic on Thursday in the Europa League.
The 34-year-old started Celtic’s 4-2 Europa League first-leg third-round qualifier win against FK Jablonec in the Czech Republic.
And many Celtic fans were impressed by the Englishman in between their sticks – although their defensive worries were still on show, especially towards the end.
Out on the pitch and off the pitch, life hasn’t started in the manner in which Ange Postecoglou would have liked – and this first win in Celtic colours will do him the world of good.
But Celtic fans feel Hart has provided them with a lift, as they pointed out how vocal he was during the game.
One thing the former Manchester City star has shown throughout his career is the ability to be that leader – and boy do the Bhoys need a lot of that now.
This is just the first step for Hart, but after several years of warming the bench, he is now going to feel the pressure cooker of having to do the business on a weekly basis once again.
This Celtic side needs patience and if Hart can get comfortable and showcase his best work then this jumpy and fragile defensive backline will get better.
Here is a selection of Celtic fans reacting to Hart’s debut today:
