Celtic earned an excellent 3-1 win over Norwegian giants Rosenborg in the first leg of their Champions League second qualifying round tie – but some Hoops fans have lambasted Jack Hendry for his performance.

A double from club-record signing Odsonne Edouard and an excellent effort from Olivier Ntcham gives Celtic a two-goal cushion, but the Scottish champions did go behind in the first half.

Hendry, 23, was at fault for the first goal, as he strode out of defence before giving the ball away. Rosenborg’s Birger Meling punished him, with a precise finish from 12 yards out.

Edouard showed just why he cost the Hoops a huge £9million, with an inch perfect first touch and calm finish to equalise just before half time. But Olivier Ntcham’s strike stole the show, as he scored an excellent curling effort from 20 yards.

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Edouard gave Celtic a strong lead ahead of next week’s clash in Rosenborg, as he chipped the goalkeeper when put clean through on goal in the 76th minute.

But some Celtic fans were unimpressed with 6ft 3in cente-back Hendry, despite improving his performance in the second half following his mistake for Rosenborg’s opener. One fan Tweeted: “He isn’t the answer”.
