Celtic put one foot in the third qualifying round of the Champions League with an impressive win at Parkhead.

A number of Celtic fans took to Twitter to laud Cristian Gamboa’s performance during the first-leg of the Hoops’ Champions League second qualifying round tie with Rosenborg on Wednesday which saw Brendan Rodgers’ men put one foot into the next round.
It had initially appeared that an upset may perhaps be on the cards as the Norwegians took the lead inside 15 minutes through Birger Meling. Gamboa will have to take some of the blame for the goal, but his display during the rest of the contest seemed to make up for the early mistake.
Odsonne Edouard levelled the scores just before the break, and Olivier Ntcham put Celtic in front immediately after the restart. Edouard would be the man to score the Hoops’ third with 15 minutes remaining.
It certainly appears that the Scottish Premiership side are in the driving seat to book their place in a tie against AEK Athens in the next round – and it appears that a number of the supporters would like to see Gamboa get another chance in the second-leg.

The Costa Rica international has endured an incredibly difficult spell at Parkhead. He has barely featured over the last two seasons, and made just three appearances in all competitions last term.
However, the 28-year-old received a lot of praise on social media after the first-leg concluded, with some even hinting that they would consider Gamboa to be the best right-back available to Rodgers right now.

Here is what some of the Celtic fans made of Gamboa’s display against Rosenborg…
